The team of my childhood and my favorite team of all time !
Love Engelbert.
Fantastic, Engelbert!!!😊💗💗💗
I had never seen this. I was a Tiger fan since 1957 and was away at college when the Tigers finally won it. It made me so happy that Kaline finally won a championship after so many hard seasons. Nobody I knew thought the Tigers had a chance after being down 3-1 in the Series, but I never felt they could come so close and lose, so I kept my hopes up.
Englebert
Then 80+ years-old Pete Scerri, veteran of Maltese military, was a competitor who always wanted state championships.
That was fun. Looked like more winning against Churchill! @9:07 I expected the center forward to back heel a shot through the defenders legs into the net. Bill Madden SHS Class of '88
THIS DUDE LOOKS LIKE HE IS GOING TO FALL ASLEEP lol
He's been doing it for 50 years and still sounds great.
😱Listening to Ernie under my pillow with a static radio 📻 was so exciting 👏👏👏👏👍
I was 14. Little transistor under my pillow too. Lol
I was 13 when the tigers won the World Series. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.⚾️
Just love you engelbert a brillent interview xx💖🇮🇪🎤🎶
The last season before division play.
Wow!!! This might be the only video that has surviving color footage of the 68 World Series broadcast. The games were preserved in b&w kinescope but the video at 22:00 is clearly the NBC broadcast.

The best of the best!
This was the high point of my life as a sports fan. After that I never needed to win nothing again. The 1968 Tigers.
Wonderful!
Découvert depuis peu j'adore aucune émission n'est traduite en français très très très dommage
Wow, the female audience is so old!
i love mt a nd jk,,,4eva
What was that siren I was wearing in the video?
I was 13 year old Twins fan living in Mpls during this season. Nevertheless, I couldn't help but to be in awe of this Tiger team. 35-5 start and just absolutely gutted the competition in the postseason. The whole team had studs but to this day my favorite double play combo is still Tram and Sweet Lou. I sure hope Lou gets the call to Cooperstown. Heck, they were together for nearly 2 decades, why not keep them together for the ages?
Engelbert has a great sense of humor…and is PROVOCATIVE! 😳
Always liked the bass line in the opening theme music.
I was 10 years old. The heroes of my childhood. McClains feat will probably not b duplicated.
I was twelve years old, the perfect age. Old enough to follow the game with some intelligence, but still young enough so that the hormones hadn't kicked in and distracted me from everything besides the drive to procreate. "Go Get 'em Tigers" was a positively bizarre anthem for that time and place. Detroit in the late 60s was the home of Motown, the Supremes, one of the great jazz scenes in the country. Yet the Tiger theme song was this washed out pseudo Dixieland ditty that could have been written a half century before, with banjo and washtub bass. Although I will admit to still knowing every word of it.
Enge, I love you so much. I love your laugh . I will see you in concert in Las Vegas this year.May God bless you and your family.

As a thirteen-year-old in Connecticut, I followed the Tigers that summer as if they were a religious cult. Once darkness fell, we could pick up Ernie and WJR on our transistor radios. I’ll never forget Ernie’s epic call of Tom Matchick’s two-out walk off homer vs. second place Baltimore. My father, brother and I were jumping up and down. Even our dog Tiger was jumping up and down. Btw, most fans know this, but there’s a vinyl record out there called “Year of the Tiger, ‘68,” which contains much more of the radio play by play, and a more complete telling of the regular season. Not sure if it’s available on CD or digitally, but fans of the 68 Tigers should check it out!
Wonderful video! 🎶🍎
Another great interview. Fans went wild .Washington State Fan. 💕
As the announcer describes the games on the road why are the Tigers wearing their home uniforms??? And 3 years later the Detroit Lions win the Super Bowl 2 championships in a few years in motown!!!
Was this interview after his mother died?
I still love hixxxxxd
I love him so much still
I had the pleasure of working at the Fox Theatre and going to security to take him to the airport. On the way they were talking about they should’ve use the restroom and Engelbert said to them here use this bottle when we get out we can just sell it
I also have that ball
My dad was number 18 shs
Beginning 's music is gorgeous....who did it?and its title?

Ernie’s voice just brings joy, comfort and so many great memories. RIP Ernie…never equaled.
2:25 - I didn't know Drew Carey was such a Tigers fam.
Enge sie sind so etwas von sympatisch.👏❤🌹😘
I was in late grade school in the Flint area. Was an awesome summer listening to Ernie, the voice of the Tigers. We watched the game on TV but listened to the calls on Radio & Ernie. Stanley was my favorite.
